Isko Moreno takes oath as Manila mayor

Manila Mayor-elect Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso confirmed Tuesday that he has taken his oath of office as incoming mayor of the Philippines’ capital at the Supreme Court (SC) en banc session hall.

In a Facebook post, Domagoso said SC Associate Justice Antonio Kho, Jr. administered the ceremony on Monday afternoon.

“Since the time I laid my hands on the Bible as I recited my Oath of Office, this has always been my fighting piece: Trust is in the people, the work is in the elected, mercy is in God,” he said in Filipino.

Joining the returning city mayor were his wife, Dynee; their children, Patrick, Frances, and Franco and 1st District Councilor-elect Joaquin Domagoso, who also took his oath before the magistrate.

The elder Domagoso also apologized to those who wanted to attend, noting that he aims to complete the oath-taking swiftly so he could begin working promptly on June 30 at noon.

In his attempt to “make Manila great again,” Mayor Isko reiterated his commitment not to waste any time to address numerous challenges that require urgent attention and focus.

Among the priorities of the incoming administration include public safety and cleanliness.

Domagoso garnered 529,507 votes in the midterm polls defeating incumbent Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Tutok To Win Party-List representative Sam Verzosa by a huge margin.
