ANTI-NARCOTICS agents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport took custody of five parcels containing hybrid cannabis valued at over P2 million found abandoned at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.
The operation was conducted by a joint team from the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG), the Bureau of Customs, and the Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group (PNP-Avsegroup) on Thursday, Feb. 13.
The contraband was discovered when suspicious images appeared during X-ray screening by Customs personnel. This prompted the operator to notify the IADITG for further inspection. A K9 unit dog also detected the presence of illegal drugs.
The agents discovered 1,535 grams of high grade marijuana or kush with an estimated street value of P2.15 million.
