The Taguig City government announced designated firecracker zones for the New Year celebration.
“Pursuant to Ordinance No. 87, Series of 2018, the City Government of Taguig, together with the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Barangay Officials, strictly prohibits any person from selling, distributing, discharging, exploding, or causing to discharge or explode any firecracker, pyrotechnic device, or any similar device outside the designated firecracker zones,” stated the city’s Public Information Office in an advisory.
A designated firecracker zone within a specific barangay must feature an open space with a five-meter setback from the nearest structure or building.
Additionally, it should be equipped with a standby fire truck, an ambulance with an Emergency Medical Team, fire extinguishers, and standby response teams.
In District 1, the designated firecracker zones include:
– The back portion of Barangay Hall
– Purok 1 Dingguin Bayan Open Court
– Purok 2 Bantayan in Barangay Palingon
– The open basketball court on Kentucky Street
– Mahogany Place 2, Blocks 3, Lot 2 & 4 on San Dimas Street in Barangay Bambang
– Barangay Road and along Guerrero Street in Barangay Wawa
– Victoria Compound Basketball Court in St. Michael
– The open basketball court near the Barangay Hall in San Miguel
– The Lakeshore Hall Parking Area in Barangay Lower Bicutan
– The open area in front of CP Sta. Teresa Elementary School or the open space at the back of the Barangay Hall in Bagumbayan
– Hagonoy Sports Complex Parking Area (Quadrangle)
– The Samama (Dulo) open area in Purok 5 extension Tabing Ilog
– Purok 5 (in front of Jelly Port) in Barangay Napindan
– Along JP Rizal Street in Tuktukan
In District 2, the designated areas are:
– Lakefront in South Daang Hari
– Osano Park in Central and Upper Bicutan
– 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City (for organized events only; individual use of firecrackers is not allowed in Fort Bonifacio)
– The open space of the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) on 7th Street in Katuparan Village
– Zone 8 at the corner of Ballecer Street in front of Em’s Elementary School
– Zone 9 at the corner of Ballecer Street in front of Signal Village National High School in Central Signal
A no-firecracker zone has been declared in the following areas: North Daang Hari, North Signal, Pinagsama, South Signal, Tanyag, Western Bicutan, Maharlika, Cembo, South Cembo, East Rembo, West Rembo, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, and Post Proper Southside.
While the city encourages everyone to celebrate the upcoming New Year safely and healthily, Ordinance No. 35, Series of 2014 prohibits selling firecrackers or pyrotechnics to children and imposes penalties on violators.
