Adiong lauds admin on road projects in Lanao

MARAWI CITY—Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. has lauded the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for helping his province achieve more infrastructure programs in terms of road development projects.

Adiong said the Marawi-Molundo-Amai Manabilang-Wao Road to and from Bukidnon links Lanao del Sur closer to the cities of Valencia and Malaybalay, effectively connecting raw materials to enhance food tourism in Mindanao.

Adiong addressed his constituents in Maranao dialect during a brief observance of the Liberation of Marawi City through tree-planting activity carried out by residents mobilized mostly by private organizations on October 18.

He said the national government would have to reprogram its funding on a 2Km. road (to complete the loop) to “about PhP 175 million, since the land elevation in that section has geologically sunken deeper by at least more than 10 meters down. There are also bridges there that are unfinished.”

He said there are more road project funding programs that Congressmen Zia Alonto Adiong and Yasser Alonto Balindong have secured from the National Road Program of the Asian Development Bank Project Management Office of the DPWH, and from the Japan International Cooperation Assistance (JICA) for Lanao del Sur, particularly the Marawi City Ground Zero Road Network.

Another that the ADB-PMO-DPWH will fund is the construction of a huge drainage box to contain all the domestic water wastes from the high ground to Basak (lowland area).

In the past Adiong said, entry to Lanao del Sur would at best had to pass through unpaved road to Wao from Bukidnon. “We would leave at daybreak and arrive in Bukidnon after dinner—or 7 to 8 or even 9 hours of road travel.”

Now paved, Adiong said, travelling through the Marawi-Molundo-Bumbaran-Wao Road will only take one-and-a-half hour to the Municipality of Wao.
