Fisherfolk from Quezon, Cavite, Bataan, Zambales, Batangas, Bulacan, Navotas, Las Piñas, and Parañaque, along with members of the NGO for Fisheries Reform, stage a protest in front of the Supreme Court on July 4, 2025.
The demonstrators, carrying an effigy of a fishing vessel to symbolize commercial fishing in municipal waters, called on the Court to act on their appeal nearly a year after it upheld a ruling allowing commercial fishing within the 15-kilometer zone reserved by law for small-scale fishers.
