Residents in Barangay Guinsang-an, Sto. Nino, South Cotabato no longer worry about water interruptions now that their barangay water system is energized by One Meralco Foundation using a solar PV system. OMF, the social development arm of the Manuel Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco), energized the water system of the underserved community that has long faced challenges with access to clean and reliable water. The initiative, part of OMF’s Water Electrification Program that entails provision of solar photovoltaic system to improve water security in local communities, benefited residents of Barangay Guinsang-an which is comprised of farmers who had been sourcing their water through deep wells.
