OROQUIETA CITY—The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Northern Mindanao is bringing the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) to Oroquieta City on October 1–3, 2025, at the Bayfront Arena.
The annual event, a regional counterpart to the National Science and Technology Week, aims to showcase how science and technology can be applied to improve lives and communities. This year’s theme is “Agham at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Kinabukasan,” with a sub-theme of “Building Smart and Sustainable Communities.”
The RSTW will feature a Technology Expo, where visitors can explore DOST-developed innovations designed to offer solutions for local industries, businesses, local government units, and students. The expo serves as a platform for the scientific community to collaborate and for DOST to bring its programs closer to the people.
A major focus for young learners will be the specialized learning hubs:
- The Mobile Planetarium will offer a look into the cosmos.
- nuLAB, a mobile STEM facility, will provide high school students with hands-on science and laboratory experiments.
A significant highlight of the event will be the official launch of the Innovation Hub (iHUB) in Misamis Occidental. The iHUB is envisioned as a collaborative space for innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs to co-create solutions tailored to local challenges.
Admission to the RSTW is free and open to the public. Residents, students, and professionals are strongly encouraged to attend the exhibits and activities to learn more about utilizing science, technology, and innovation for community development. The event is organized by DOST Northern Mindanao in partnership with the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental and the City Government of Oroquieta
