Subsidies granted to state-run firms fell 22.94 percent to P106.924 billion in 2025 as the national government scaled back financial support for major entities, Bureau of the Treasury data showed.
The total amount represents a significant decline from the P138.763 billion recorded a year earlier. Government subsidies are typically extended to government-owned and controlled corporations to support operational expenses not covered by their own revenues.
The National Irrigation Administration received the largest share of the 2025 allocations at P47.239 billion. However, this was 33.66 percent lower than the P71.208 billion the agency recorded in 2024.
Major non-financial government corporations received a combined P67.325 billion throughout the year, while other government corporations were granted P39.090 billion. Government financial institutions were allocated P509 million in subsidies.
The National Food Authority followed the irrigation agency with P14.404 billion in support. The Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. received P8 billion in total subsidies for the year.
