Nickel Asia allocated up to P10.3 billion in capital expenditure for renewable energy development this year. This represents a significant increase from the P7.66 billion capital expenditure recorded in 2025.

EPI is set to start commercial operations of the 120-megawatt-peak San Isidro solar plant in Leyte by the second quarter. The project is being managed through Greenlight Renewable Energy Holdings Inc, a joint venture between EPI and Shell Overseas Investments B.V.

A second phase of the Leyte project, which will add another 120-megawatt-peak capacity, is expected to be delivered by the first quarter of 2027.

Greenlight Renewables is also developing a 59-MW solar project in Botolan, Zambales, which is scheduled to begin commercial operations next year.

In addition to its joint venture projects, EPI plans to construct a 145-MW solar plant in two phases at the Subic Bay Freeport in Zambales. Commercial operations for the facility are set for between the fourth quarter of 2027 and the first quarter of 2028.

The company is also developing a 50-MW solar plant in Hermosa, Bataan, targeting a commercial operations date in the third quarter of 2028.

EPI operates a 172-MW solar project at Mount Sta. Rita in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone under Jobin-SQM Inc, which was energized in February 2024.
