AirAsia Philippines to launch daily Cebu-Bangkok flights in June

AirAsia Philippines is expanding its regional footprint with the launch of a new direct route between Cebu and Bangkok starting June 11, 2026, as the carrier positions the province as a strategic international gateway for the Central Visayas region.

The airline will operate daily flights between the Queen City of the South and the Thai capital. By connecting to Bangkok’s Don Mueang airport, a major hub for the AirAsia Aviation Group, travelers from Cebu can access 42 domestic routes within Thailand and 60 international destinations across Asia.

The new route is expected to bolster inbound tourism to Central Visayas, which remains the most visited region in the Philippines by foreign travelers.

A recent review by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies reported that the region welcomed 31.5 million international visitors between 2000 and 2024.

Since establishing its Cebu hub in November 2025, AirAsia Philippines has connected the province to Macao, Kuala Lumpur, Caticlan and Davao. The airline is also increasing international frequencies from its Manila hub to address rising demand.

Starting March 30, services between Manila and Taipei will increase by 5 weekly flights. Beginning April 3, the Manila-Kaohsiung route will see 4 additional weekly services, followed by 3 more weekly flights to the Manila-Macao route starting April 4.

AirAsia operates in five ASEAN countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Cambodia.

The low-cost carrier has served over 800 million guests across more than 130 destinations. The company operates more than 200 aircraft and maintains a significant orderbook for the next decade as it transitions into a global low-cost network carrier.
