Manila Water east zone capex hits P24b

Manila Water accelerated its long-term infrastructure program in 2025, deploying nearly P24 billion in capital expenditures for its East Zone operations.

The investment is part of the company’s P28.2 billion group-wide capex. Approximately 84 percent was dedicated to the East Zone, which serves more than 7.8 million customers in eastern Metro Manila and Rizal.

The 2025 program focused on four pillars: water security, service accessibility, service continuity, and environmental protection.

Around half of the East Zone investment, or roughly P12.5 billion, was used for major raw water development and treatment infrastructure. Projects include ongoing work on the East Bay and Wawa water sources, which are designed to diversify supply and safeguard against climate-related variability.

Manila Water advanced network upgrades, pipeline replacements, and system rehabilitation to reduce service interruptions. These programs helped the company achieve a non-revenue water level of 13.55 percent by the end of 2025, among the lowest in Asia.

The company directed approximately P2.5 billion toward wastewater improvements, including sewer network enhancements and treatment upgrades. These projects support regulatory compliance and waterway protection for East Zone communities.

About P4 billion supported community-level projects and pipeline extensions. These efforts aim to ensure growing communities receive reliable water and sanitation services.

The 2025 CAPEX push aligns with Manila Water’s growth strategy, including milestones such as the acquisition of Wawa JVCo to strengthen long-term supply planning.
