Japan to accept 50 nurses, 300 caregivers

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced it is now accepting applications for 50 nurses and 300 certified careworkers to be deployed to Japan under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA).

The recruitment drive, conducted in cooperation with the Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS), seeks candidates for nurse (Kangoshi) and certified careworker (Kaigofukushishi) positions.

Under the program, successful applicants will undergo a 12-month Japanese language training program, with the first six months held in the Philippines and the remaining six months in Japan.

Officials said the government would provide a daily living allowance to all participants for the entire duration of the language training.

Following the preparatory courses, candidates will be assigned to Japanese hospitals and caregiving facilities for a work term lasting three to four years.

While the initial contracts are fixed, the DMW encourages participants to eventually obtain Japanese professional licenses for Kangoshi and Kaigofukushishi to qualify for longer employment terms in the country.
