AbaCore Capital Holdings Inc. subsidiary Simlong Energy Development Corp. (SEDC) and government-owned Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) are exploring potential wind resource generation in Batangas to develop an onshore wind energy hub.
Under the amended terms of a memorandum of agreement signed on Sept. 15, 2025, PNOC will lead the wind resource assessment, geo-spatial studies, mapping, techno-economic analysis and forecasting.
The study period was extended to 18 months from the initial 15 months to allow for more comprehensive data gathering and analysis.
The amended agreement extends the effectivity of the partnership until Feb. 29, 2028, unless it is earlier modified or terminated by mutual consent.
“The main objective of the study is to determine viability of the area for the establishment of energy hub and energy infrastructure development. Should the result of the study yield positive result, it will enhance the goal of the company of diversifying its investment asset portfolio,” AbaCore said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange.
The original agreement outlined the partnership to evaluate and potentially develop a wind energy facility within a designated area of interest inside the 142-hectare property of SEDC in Simlong, Batangas City.
The parties noted that Batangas remains a strategically attractive location for renewable energy given its role as a center for trade logistics, power generation and port modernization.
The Simlong site is part of the broader ABA Energy Hub strategy of AbaCore, which aims to develop energy assets aligned with national demand and sustainability goals.
