Vietnam Airlines has officially inaugurated direct service between Hanoi and Cebu, marking an expansion of the airline’s international network. The new route strengthens connectivity in Southeast Asia while offering travelers more access to the region’s resort destinations.
Flight VN643, operated by an Airbus A321 with about 100 passengers, departed Noi Bai International Airport at 10:50 p.m. Dec. 2 and landed at Mactan-Cebu International Airport at 3:30 a.m. local time Dec. 3.
The route is the carrier’s first direct link between the Vietnamese capital and Cebu, known for its island landscapes and heritage, offering attractions ranging from beach escapes to nature adventures.
Flights from Hanoi to Cebu depart every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Return flights operate every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. With a flight time of three hours, the service significantly shortens the journey between the two cities.
The service also opens the door for travelers from the Philippines to experience Hanoi, known for its culinary heritage and proximity to attractions such as Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh and Sapa.
Dang Anh Tuan, executive vice president of Vietnam Airlines, said the service represents more than just a new route.
“It strengthens cultural and economic connections between Vietnam and the region, creating new opportunities for travel and collaboration,” Tuan said. “Vietnam Airlines is dedicated to providing safe and high-quality services that promote tourism and foster closer ties between the two countries.”
The launch aligns with the airline’s strategy to expand its network in Southeast Asia, a market with strong tourism growth. The route is expected to promote tourism, trade and cultural exchange between Vietnam and the Philippines.
