West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. has earned two major distinctions at the 2025 Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability (ACES) Awards, securing spots among Asia’s Most Influential Companies and the Top Green Companies in Asia for its leadership in sustainability.
Organized by Malaysia-based MORS Group, the ACES Awards recognize companies that create positive impact through responsible leadership and strong corporate governance. Maynilad was cited for its aggressive non-revenue water reduction program, which has cut water losses and enabled the recovery of more than 400 million liters of potable water daily.
“These initiatives reflect Maynilad’s commitment to sustainable water management, aligned with global climate goals and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal on clean water and sanitation. This recognition encourages us to continue investing in long-term solutions that help secure water access for future generations,” said Maynilad chief sustainability officer Roel S. Espiritu.
The gains were driven by AI-assisted pipeline monitoring, acoustic sensors, predictive maintenance, and the replacement of 142 kilometers of aging pipes in 2024 alone. The company also decommissioned over 9,000 illegal service connections, recovered 800,000 cubic meters of water, and upgraded 3,264 kilometers of distribution lines since 2006.
Maynilad reinforced the measures with stakeholder-inclusive initiatives, including employee-led network inspections like the “Grand Walk the Line,” which promote collaboration and accountability across the organization.
Maynilad was also recognized for pioneering NEW WATER, Asia’s first direct potable reuse project, and for deploying modular treatment plants that tap alternative water sources and reduce reliance on Angat Dam. These initiatives highlight the company’s role in modernizing the Philippine water sector and strengthening climate resilience.
Maynilad is the country’s largest private water concessionaire by customer base and operates under a concession agreement with the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, covering parts of Metro Manila and Cavite.
