Visa, FinTech Alliance launch Google Pay

Visa, in collaboration with FinTech Alliance and Google, launched Google Pay in the Philippines on Tuesday, enabling tap to pay transactions using a smartphone.

Visa cardholders can now add their debit and credit cards to Google Wallet and make contactless payments via Google Pay at enabled terminals.

The service offers seamless and secure payment experiences for Filipinos traveling abroad and foreign visitors.

The service’s security is anchored on tokenization, which replaces the actual card numbers with a unique, one-time digital code, or token, during a transaction.

The process helps prevent fraud by ensuring the cardholder’s real account information is not shared with merchants or stored on the device.

“Google Pay amplifies the benefits of Visa for consumers, businesses and our banking partners,” said Jeffrey Navarro, Visa Philippines country manager.

“Each payment is protected by Visa’s network token – a unique, one-time digital code that can help prevent fraud while ensuring a seamless experience,” he said
