The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Tuesday warned e-commerce platforms to stop selling illegal and unpermitted products.
The DICT expressed its support to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) for their recent actions against unauthorized online sales of illegal items.
Following an Aug. 29, 2025 meeting with the CICC and DTI, the DICT committed to aligning its efforts with the DTI for stronger enforcement.
Major e-commerce platforms, including Shopee, Lazada, TikTok and Meta, attended the inter-agency meeting.
They were issued notices to remove advertisements and sales of prohibited and unlicensed products, the DICT said.
The DICT affirmed, along with the DTI, that the government is taking concrete steps to halt the online sale of illegal items.
“We will continue to compel digital platforms to fulfill their responsibility to consumers by removing illicit content and keeping the digital marketplace safe, secure and trustworthy,” the DICT said.
“Protecting Filipino consumers and upholding the integrity of the digital economy is non-negotiable, and the department will not hesitate to act against violators,” it said.
