The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said it has inspected more than 600 businesses to ensure they comply with accreditation requirements.
The FairTrade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB), a division of the DTI, said in a statement its team has conducted 81 monitoring rounds as of July 2025 and inspected 662 firms in Metro Manila, Cebu, Misamis Oriental, South Cotabato and Davao City.
The inspections were led by FTEB’s Business Licensing and Accreditation Division (BLAD) and covered 512 service and repair enterprises (SREs), 131 sea freight forwarding (SFF) companies, and 19 private emission testing centers (PETCs).
During onsite visits, inspectors validated submitted documents, audited ratings, tested tools and equipment, and interviewed qualified technicians and business owners to verify compliance with regulatory standards.
“These efforts aim to ensure that accredited enterprises meet and maintain the required standards, protecting consumers and upholding the integrity of regulated industries,” FTEB officer-in-charge director Marimel Porciuncula said.
Violations of accreditation rules may result in a notice of violation (NOV) or show cause order (SCO), which could lead to formal charges and administrative fines.
The DTI urged all covered enterprises to secure proper accreditation, licensing and registration with BLAD, stressing its mandate to enforce compliance under various laws and regulations.
