The Department of Tourism (DOT) said Friday it expects over 30 million domestic and international travelers to visit popular destinations across the country during the Holy Week.
DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said regional operations centers were activated to monitor high-traffic areas and ensure smooth coordination across tourism sites.
Frasco also reminded travelers to avoid scams by booking only with DOT-accredited establishments, which guarantee safety, quality and standardized services.
“We’re pleased to see Filipinos traveling locally and international visitors enjoying meaningful and enriching experiences. We continue to encourage everyone to choose DOT-accredited establishments, which undergo strict accreditation to ensure high-quality experiences,” Frasco said.
Top Holy Week destinations based on previous DOT data include Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, Palawan, Siargao, Baguio, Batangas, Ilocos Norte and Sur, Pampanga, Pangasinan and Puerto Galera.
Emerging spots like Camiguin, Siquijor and Cagayan de Oro are also attracting more tourists, while Mindanao destinations such as Davao and Sarangani continue to see growing arrivals.
Intramuros a top heritage and faith tourism site in Manila, is expected to draw 2.4 million visitors this season—up from 2.2 million last year—due to its cultural attractions and Holy Week traditions like Visita Iglesia.
“I just want to remind everyone that the Tourist Assistance Call Center is active and live,” Frasco said.
