Mercury Group president Vivian Que-Azcona dies at age 69

Vivian Que-Azcona, the president of the Mercury Group of Companies, and one of the top taxpayers in the Philippines, died at the age of 69 on April 5, 2025, according to the Varsitarian, the official student publication of the University of Santo Tomas.

The Unilab Group, a local pharmaceutical company and a major medicine supplier of Mercury Drug Store, extended its heartfelt condolences on the untimely passing of Que-Azcona.

“She was a visionary leader and a dedicated partner who has left an indelible mark on the Mercury Group of Companies, the healthcare industry and the country,” Unilab said on its social media page.

“Ms. Que-Azcona lived with purpose and passion, ensuring only the best healthcare is accessible to Filipinos. We are grateful for the longstanding partnership with the Mercury Group of Companies for 80 years and for the privilege of having worked alongside Ms. Que-Azcona, whose integrity and care for Filipinos have been an inspiration to those around her,” Unilab said.

“We believe her meaningful work uplifted millions of lives through the years, leaving a legacy that will be remembers for generations to come,” the pharmaceutical company said.

The Varsitarian said Que-Azcona was a UST Faculty of Pharmacy alumna. It said her untimely death was confirmed by UST Pharmacy Dean and Philippine Pharmacists Association Inc. president Aleth Dacanay.
