The Department of Tourism (DOT) is calling on the public to support the Philippines in maintaining its status as one of Asia’s top destinations at the 2025 World Travel Awards.
The country is defending its titles, with nominations for Asia’s Leading Beach Destination, Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, Asia’s Leading Island Destination and Asia’s Leading Asia’s Leading Tourist Board.
“The sustained and dedicated efforts of the Department of Tourism have once again borne fruit with these nominations from the prestigious World Travel Awards,” said DOT Secretary Christina Frasco.
Several of the Philippines’ premier tourist spots also earned nominations in various categories: Boracay as Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, Intramuros as Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction, and Cebu as Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination.
Voting for the 32nd edition of the World Travel Awards opened on April 1, 2025 and will run until Aug. 1, 2025.
Filipinos are encouraged to cast their votes online for the Philippines in its respective categories.
“Winning these awards will not only add prestige to our efforts but also create more opportunities for our fellow Filipinos whose livelihoods depend on tourism. It will also allow us to surpass the achievements we’ve made since we took office,” Frasco said.
The Philippines will defend its title as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, a category it has dominated for six consecutive years from 2019 to 2024.
The country also won Asia’s Leading Beach Destination and Asia’s Leading Island Destination awards in 2024, while Boracay Island was honored as Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, Intramuros as Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction and Cebu as Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination.
