Philippine Airlines (PAL) is strengthening female representation in aviation with its “Fly With Her” Program, a scholarship initiative in partnership with the PAL Foundation.

The program provides financial aid to aspiring Filipina pilots, reinforcing PAL’s long-standing advocacy for gender equity in the industry.

Since 1989, PAL has pioneered female leadership in aviation, with Aimee Carandang-Gloria becoming Southeast Asia’s first female commercial airline pilot.

Today, PAL employs over 80 female pilots, making up 9 percent of its workforce—surpassing the global average of 6 percent.

PAL has earmarked P10 million for the program, awarding P2.5 million each to four female cadet pilots. The funds, managed by the PAL Foundation, will be directly allocated to PAL’s partner aviation school to partially cover tuition.

The criteria for female cadet pilot candidates include financial need, an undergraduate degree (preferably in STEM), English proficiency, physical fitness, enrollment in PAL’s partner aviation school, completion of training within 12 months, and a commitment to serve with PAL post-training under specified conditions.

PAL will oversee the selection process, with final approval from its president and board of directors. Candidates will be chosen based on financial need, merit, and potential.

The PAL Foundation will manage fund distribution, ensuring transparency, while running a public awareness campaign to encourage more women to pursue aviation careers. Scholars will participate in mentorship programs and PAL-sponsored events.

While the scholarship does not guarantee employment, graduates may be considered for positions at PAL, subject to training agreements and job availability.

The” Fly With Her” program ensures the next generation of female pilots as PAL continues its mission to break barriers and elevate women in aviation.
