The Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO) said Friday it relocated its Manila-based satellite office from Pasay City to PARQAL Mall in Parañaque City, partly to save on overhead expenses and provide employees a better, more productive work space.
“Every government organization must operate with fiscal prudence, especially when resources are scarce and need to be maximized for the greater good of the Filipino people. The savings generated will be redirected toward revenue-generating infrastructure projects in APECO,” said APECO president and chief executive Gil Taway IV during the inauguration of the new satellite office on March 13, 2025.
When APECO’s new management assumed leadership in late 2023, it prioritized addressing the organization’s negative image and reputation.
Relocating the Manila office and rehabilitating the Casiguran head office are deliberate steps to revitalize APECO and position it for future industry development.
The decision to transfer followed a comprehensive review of operational needs and space utilization, aligning with APECO’s commitment to fiscal responsibility.
The new office is designed to promote collaboration and support APECO’s mission of attracting foreign investments, generating jobs and advancing sustainable development, it said.
Established through Republic Act 9490, as amended by Republic Act 10083, APECO is a government-owned and controlled corporation based in Casiguran, Aurora.
It aims to develop into a decentralized, self-reliant, and self-sustaining industrial, commercial, agro-industrial, tourism, banking, financial, and investment hub with suitable residential areas.
APECO’s mandate is to attract foreign investments, create jobs, and improve the social and economic conditions of the local community.
