The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, announced the appointment of Amena Arif as its new country manager for the Philippines.

Arif will drive private sector investments to create jobs, combat climate change and promote financial inclusion. A Pakistani national, Amena joined IFC in 2012 after a career in international commercial banking.

She has led IFC’s debt and equity investments with financial institutions in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Lebanon. She served as country manager for East Africa and previously held the same role in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

“IFC is dedicated to working with partners in the Philippines to unlock funding, support businesses, and expand digital access. I am excited to return to Asia and collaborate on sustainable and inclusive growth,” said Arif.

She succeeds Jean-Marc Arbogast, now the World Bank Group country manager in Chile.
