Maynilad Water Services Inc. said Tuesday it completed a series of capital projects amounting to P25.75 billion in 2024 to enhance water and wastewater services, while improving customer engagement.

Maynilad said of the total, P7 billion was allocated to upgrading the sewerage system, including the construction and enhancement of wastewater facilities that will benefit thousands of customers.

Among the ongoing developments are the Caloocan Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and Las Piñas WRF, both began in 2024.

Maynilad said it also upgraded seven wastewater treatment facilities in Muntinlupa, Pasay, Quezon City and Manila to comply with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) stricter wastewater treatment standards under DAO 2021-19.

Some P6 billion was allotted for Maynilad’s non-revenue water (NRW) reduction program, which involved replacing 142 kilometers of aging pipes in 2024.

The project was able to recover 158 million liters of water per day (MLD), enhancing distribution efficiency and reducing water losses.

To further enhance water service reliability, P6.5 billion was invested in constructing and rehabilitating key water facilities including the Poblacion Water Treatment Plant in Muntinlupa and the Parada Pumping Station in Valenzuela.

The concessionaire also expanded its pipeline network across the west zone, including the installation of pipelines in Morong, Rizal in preparation for future water supply from the Kaliwa Dam.

It said it allocated P4.4 billion to develop small-scale water treatment facilities that utilize alternative sources such as dams and rivers in Cavite province, ensuring a more resilient water supply.

Maynilad said it dedicated a portion of its 2024 capital budget to enhancing customer service and information programs focused on upgrading digital communication channels and improving service responsiveness.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) in the Philippines, serving a vast customer base across Metro Manila and parts of Cavite.
