Leandro Legarda Leviste, founder of Solar Philippines Tarlac Corp., reputedly the builder of Southeast Asia’s largest solar project, eyes remarkable progress in the coming years for the first district of Batangas.

“For decades, other districts have experienced rapid growth due to strong support from the national government. It is imperative that our district receives the same level of attention. I am confident that in the years ahead, the First District will become one of the most prosperous regions in Batangas,” said Leviste, recognized as the country’s youngest billionaire-entrepreneur.

He underscored the critical role of national government support in accelerating the district’s development. He called on policymakers to prioritize infrastructure improvements, economic diversification, and livelihood programs.

Leviste made these statements at the official launch of his candidacy for congressman representing the First District, during assemblies held Feb. 28 to March 1 in the towns of Nasugbo, Balayan and Taal, attended by politicians including his mother, Senator Loren Legarda.

More than 60,000 residents and stakeholders gathered together in support of their candidates and expressed their commitment to advancing the district’s economic growth, infrastructure development, and social services.

The events also served as Leviste’s platform for key national figures to engage with local communities on pressing issues and legislative initiatives aimed at fostering regional progress.

The affair drew prominent political figures, among them Senator Francis Tolentino, former senators Tito Sotto and Panfilo Lacson and Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla, representing her husband Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. and Senator Legarda who stood in solidarity with her fellow lawmakers in advocating for the district’s development.

Discussions centered on key issues like employment opportunities, infrastructure expansion and enhancement of public services.

The senatorial candidates took the opportunity to present their legislative platforms, reaffirming their commitment to governance reforms, economic development and social welfare initiatives.

Senator Legarda commended the demonstration of unity between national and local leaders, emphasizing its significance in advancing the district’s long-term growth.

“This level of collaboration underscores the importance of synergy between the national and local governments in effectively implementing programs that directly benefit our communities. The First District of Batangas holds immense potential, and sustained support is crucial in realizing its full economic and social development,” she said.

“The large-scale gathering highlighted the collective efforts of national leaders and local officials in promoting policies and programs designed to enhance the quality of life in Batangas’ First District. Through continued engagement and legislative action, stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to driving sustainable progress in the region.” Leviste’s camp said in a statement.
