The ceremony, attended by over 300 guests, was graced by distinguished officials from Taiwan including Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Hsu Chia-ching, Secretary-General of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Lin You-chang, Legislator Lee Kuen-cheng and Taiwan Ambassador to the Philippines Wallace Minn-Gan Chow.

Hsu presided over the official handover, while Chow administered the oath of office for the new board members.

Taiwan President Lai Ching-te also sent his congratulatory message to the association’s new leadership.

Pai shared his vision of strengthening ties among Taiwanese expatriates in the Philippines by organizing networking events, lectures and social activities.

He stressed the importance of utilizing social media and online platforms to promote the association’s values and initiatives, including the creation of a basketball team to engage younger members.

Under Pai’s leadership, the association plans to uphold its commitment to “serving fellow countrymen and caring for the disadvantaged.”

It plans to contribute to Philippine society through various charitable initiatives, including disaster relief, medical missions, poverty alleviation, and donations of computers.

The organization also reaffirms its commitment to Taiwan’s foreign policy and will continue to play a pivotal role in strengthening Taiwan-Philippines relations.

Chow expressed his hope that under Pai’s leadership, the association would continue to serve as a bridge between the Taiwanese expatriates and the broader Filipino community, with an emphasis on fostering cooperation, strengthening investments, and cultivating the next generation of leaders in the Taiwanese community.

Hsu praised the association’s previous leadership under Andrew Liang, particularly its advocacy for Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly. She encouraged the new leadership to continue promoting cultural exchange and social development between Taiwan and the Philippines.

Secretary-General Lin You-chang noted the expanding cooperation between Taiwan and the Philippines in key areas such as trade, tourism, and strategic initiatives. He reiterated the Taiwanese government’s commitment to investing in the Philippines’ growth, with the Taiwanese Association of the Philippines playing a crucial role in enhancing bilateral ties.

Legislator Lee Kuen-cheng echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the strengthening partnership between the two nations across various sectors.

Founded on Nov. 24, 2006, the Taiwanese Association of the Philippines originated from the Democratic Progressive Fellowship. Its mission is to promote solidarity and mutual support among Taiwanese expatriates, protect their legal rights, and build stronger ties with similar organizations globally.

The Taiwanese Association of the Philippines remains a cornerstone of the Taiwanese community in the Philippines, fostering unity, goodwill and shared aspirations among the Taiwanese people.
