Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco led the groundbreaking of Antique’s first tourist rest area (TRA) in Barangay Aningalan, San Remigio on Nov. 21, 2024.
Frasco underscored the DOT’s dedication to enhancing the global competitiveness of Philippine tourism while ensuring environmental stewardship in all its initiatives.
“Sustainability is at the core of Philippine tourism development, aligning with the vision of Senator Loren Legarda, a long-time advocate for conservation,” said Frasco.
The San Remigio TRA, the 16th in the country and second in Western Visayas, is part of the Marcos administration’s flagship projects to provide essential infrastructure while prioritizing sustainability in tourism development.
Designed with eco-friendly elements such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient features, the facility will offer modern amenities while minimizing environmental impact.
