Malayan Insurance Co. Inc. (MICO) announced the appointment of Eden Tesoro as its new chief operations officer (COO).
Prior to this assignment, Tesoro served as senior vice president and CUO, during which time she oversaw and devised underwriting strategies, directed product development, and secured appropriate reinsurance support from credible partners.
Adelo Abeleda, head of underwriting cluster 1, succeeded Tesoro as the chief underwriting officer (CUO).
Tesoro also brings her leadership experience as the current chairperson of the board of trustees for the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association (PIRA) to her new executive role. She is expected to steer and grow the business by ensuring efficient operations and enhancing the organization’s customer experience.
Abeleda spent 11 years fulfilling various key roles in MICO. His previous posts as chief underwriting officer, cluster head of property, engineering, risk services and policy issuance departments and senior assistant vice president saw him take the lead in articulating tactical underwriting strategies.
