Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Jing Quan urged closer bilateral cooperation in clean energy and modern technology during a two-day visit to Negros Occidental to engage local business leaders and inspect a major solar power project.
Attending the 35th Visayas Area Business Conference during his May 14 to 15 visit, Jing said China advocates building a community with a shared future with neighboring countries and is prepared to share the opportunities created by Chinese modernization.
The ambassador noted recent positive steps in China-Philippines relations, citing the resumption of political dialogue, increased people-to-people exchanges and deepening economic and trade cooperation.
Jing highlighted several sectors with enormous potential for bilateral cooperation, including clean energy, modern agriculture, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, infrastructure construction and the joint development of oil and gas resources. He urged business communities from both countries to expand exchanges and seize cooperation opportunities to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Addressing broader regional diplomacy, Jing said the Philippines, like other Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members, can maintain stable relations with both China and the United States simultaneously. He described this diplomatic course as aligned with the Philippines’ fundamental and long-term interests.
During his itinerary, Jing toured the Bacolod 50-MW solar power project, a clean energy infrastructure development currently being built by the engineering firm Energy China.
Jing encouraged company officials to expand their presence in the Philippine market, uphold corporate social responsibility and set a positive example for other foreign investors looking to inject capital into the country’s growing green energy sector.
