The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) launched a nationwide TikTok video competition to showcase stories of how its long-running Barrio Schools program has provided safe learning spaces and shaped the lives of Filipino students.
The contest, titled “A Classroom For Every Dream: How FFCCCII Barrio Schools Have Improved Lives,” aims to highlight the impact of the private sector school building initiative.
FFCCCII president Victor Lim said during a March 9 media forum at Kamuning Bakery Cafe that the competition is a modern platform to bridge the organization’s history and philanthropy with the creativity of digital storytellers.
“The competition seeks to raise awareness about the decade-spanning project and to show how the school buildings have become symbols of hope and progress in rural communities,” Lim said.
The initiative, known as Operation: Barrio Schools, has reached a milestone of 6,500 buildings donated and constructed across the Philippines since 1961.
FFCCCII vice president and Youth Integration Committee adviser Reynold Dy noted the project is the largest and longest-running program of its kind in the country.
FFCCCII Youth and Integration Cooperation Committee chairman Peter Mangasing said the contest intends to surface inspiring stories of how these schools transformed communities.
The competition features two categories with significant cash rewards. Category A, titled “My FFCCCII Barrio School Journey,” is reserved for personal stories from students, alumni, teachers, and staff. Category B, “The FFCCCII Barrio Schools Story,” is open to the general public, including influencers and media practitioners.
For each category, the grand prize is P120,000, while second and third place winners will receive P80,000 and P50,000 respectively. The organization will also award 5 special citations worth P30,000 each and 20 notable entries with P10,000 each.
Filipino citizens aged 13 and above are eligible to join. Entries should be 1 to 2 minutes long, in vertical MP4 format, and include English subtitles.
The submission period runs from March 9 to May 15, 2026. Participants should set their videos to public on TikTok between May 5 and May 15, 2026. Winners will be announced on June 8, 2026, followed by an awarding ceremony on June 20, 2026.
