Tzu Chi Foundation organized a relief distribution at the Don Bosco Youth Center on Sept. 26, 2024 for the fire-affected families in Tondo, Manila.
Inspired by the foundation’s advocacy of helping those in need, its volunteers, staff members and scholars led the event.
Tzu Chi donated relief packages that included 10 kilograms of rice, blanket, sleeping mat, laundry bleach, detergent soap, shampoo, body wash, cooking oil, vinegar, salt, soy sauce, condensed milk, sugar and biscuits.
Some 1,859 families benefited from the distribution.
Barangay 105 chairman Elenita Reyes expressed gratitude for Tzu Chi’s prompt assistance.
“We thank the Tzu Chi Foundation for their unending assistance with disaster relief and scholarship programs; they never fail to help us in the face of adversity,” she said.
Tzu Chi charity department head Tina Pasion emphasized the organization’s commitment to helping residents return to normalcy.
“We hope that these relief items will meet their needs and assist them in their immediate recovery from this disaster,” she said.
Recipients expressed their sincere gratitude to the Tzu Chi volunteers for their kindness and support during the difficult time.
A massive fire engulfed the Aroma Compound in Brgy. 105, Tondo, Manila, affected nearly 2,000 households on Sept. 14, 2024.
The fire, which occurred around noon, was one of the largest in the National Capital Region (NCR).
