Manila Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Sunday said he is fortunate to have a ‘battle-tested’ vice mayor in the person of Honey Lacuna and assured Manilans that she is more than ready for the job as the next city mayor.
Speaking at the sidelines of the distribution of financial assistance to 197 families who lost their homes to a recent fire that hit a barangay in Sagrada Familia in San Andres, Domagoso said that even if he carries out his listening tour in areas outside of Manila from time to time, his work at City Hall continues to be “24/7.”
The mayor also stressed that Lacuna “really knows the job as theVice Mayor of Manila and I think, may awa ang Diyos, maging ang pagiging
mayor na rin ng Maynila, sa kaloob ng Diyos at ng mga taga-Maynila (With the grace of God, she will become mayor of Manila)” Lacuna is running for mayor to succeed Moreno, with congressman and House Deputy Majority leader Yul Servo as her vice mayoral candidate.
Domagoso said Lacuna will continue all the pro-people programs that were begun since they both assumed the top two posts in the city.
He said there is no one else who can ably continue everything that his administration had started other than Lacuna.
“She will continue to build more housing, more hospitals, more schools and the help to Manileno, the allowances of seniors, PWDs, solo parents, K to 12 students and in colleges,” Domagoso said.
Domagoso also said he is certain that Lacuna will also continue all the kinds of assistance that they have been giving during Christmas and in times of calamity, along with infra development, creation of open green spaces, more parks and greenery in the entire city of Manila.
The mayor added: “She (Lacuna) knows everything very well because most of these projects passed through the city.
Domagoso also tasked Lacuna, who also happens to be a doctor, with direct supervision over the city’s six district hospitals and the local government’s mass vaccination program which has been swift, orderly and very aggressive.
Domagoso also credits Lacuna’s guidance for the highly successful COVID response in Manila, citing how her being a lady doctor benefitted his administration and the residents as well.
