Power retailer Manila Electric Co. and Amber Kinetics are pioneering the long-duration Flywheel Energy Storage System in the country.
The two parties said in a joint statement the pioneering project would allow Meralco to test and demonstrate Amber Kinetics Flywheel Energy Storage System as part of their initiatives to explore new and clean energy technologies at the Meralco Power Tech center—a state-of-the-art research and development facility in Pasig City.
“The promising partnership between Meralco and Amber Kinetics paves the way for a clean energy future in the Philippines as both companies envision the same sustainability agenda,” the companies said.
Meralco said it was working on significant expansion to support renewable energy projects in the country. Meralco seeks to provide consumers with a competitive power supply, all while placing environmental protection and sustainability as key priorities.
