Maloleños out to support VP Robredo presidential bid via stationary caravan

MALOLOS CITY—Thousands of volunteers or “Kakampinks” are expected to join the stationary caravan set today to welcome the first visit of Vice President Leni Robredo in this capital city of Bulacan.

The caravan will start at Tabang, Guiguinto (just past the NLEx exit) in the morning until the arrival of Robredo at the Malolos Sports Convention Center, where she is set to open a “Vaccination Express” for 1,000 pre-registered recipients.

Robredo will make a courtesy call to Bishop Dennis Villarojo of the Malolos diocese at the Malolos Cathedral followed by a stop-over at the historic Barasoain Church where Robredo will meet the Robredo People’s Council composed of 150 leaders of volunteer groups in the province.

Other non-government and business organizations are also participating in the event. These groups include Bulacan Lawyers for Leni, Rotarians for Leni; RobreDoks; Tomasino para kay Leni, and other representatives from 21 towns and 3 cities of the province.

The highlight of Leni’s visit is a speech at the balcony of the Malolos City Hall where she will extend her gratitude to supporters especially the “Mainit na Lugaw Brigade” that provide relief to volunteers flocking the places visited by Robredo.

The Robredo-Pangilinan tandem has already toured most of Central Luzon in the past weeks where Nueva Ecijanos and the people of Tarlac also extended a warm welcome.

Meanwhile, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan pushes for the inclusion of other public utility drivers as beneficiaries of the government’s Fuel Subsidy Program, which will receive an additional P5 billion fund next year.

At the Senate deliberations on the 2022 budget of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Monday, November 22, Pangilinan was also able to secure a commitment from the department and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) that jeepney drivers immediately benefit from the Service Contracting Program.

“Hindi kailangang mag-consolidate ang mga drivers at operators para makasama sa Service Contracting Program at para mapabilis ang pag-release ng QR codes. This was clarified by DOTr and LTFRB yesterday. Major pain point ito ng mga jeepney driver nang makausap natin sila recently,” he said.

Pangilinan said that the government subsidy should also include drivers of tricycle, taxi, and ride-hailing, and delivery services.
