Picking up where it left off, romantic drama The World Between Us, headlined by Alden Richards, Jasmine Curtis Smith, and Tom Rodriguez, returns with bolder characters and a more intricate plot. A big change in the story, if you will.
Talking to Manila Standard Entertainment, program manager Anthony Pastorpide describes its season return as explosive where viewers will witness the evolution of the main characters and the people surrounding them.
“It’s a total unraveling, and it’s the culmination of all the elements introduced before the season break. This will be the point where we will see the development of each character. Everyone in the story has an important story to tell especially the lead characters — how their lives are intertwined and how [the story] will end,” Pastorpide shares.
For Tom Rodriguez who plays Brian, it’s going to be a natural continuation of his charterer’s disposition, conflict, and selfish point of view.
“He always feels that he’s being slighted by the people he loves. He will find a pocket of people who will fuel the kind of hatred that he feels. Things are getting worse for him and the stakes are getting higher,” he shares.
Dinna Bonnevie finds her character very caring in the first part of the story. In the next installment, the senior actress interprets Rachel Cruz-Libradilla as someone who changes priorities and becomes stricter as a person at the same time.
“She becomes more cunny because she starts to feel that the people around her are hiding a few secrets. She begins to investigate and eventually becomes wiser. She also becomes more intrusive in the lives of people who matter to her,” she says.
Jasmine Curtis Smith sees growth in her character, but it’s not the kind of growth audiences might expect from her who has been too naïve since the beginning of the story.
“Unfortunately, her character will take a sad direction. Lia aims to become mature and be her own woman because of the sudden change in her life. She will almost achieve that kind of maturity but the chance will be taken away from her. She’ll be a bit lost and will kind of surrender. How she’ll bounce back is something that I’d like the audience to see, if that will still happen in the story,” she says describing her character.
Meanwhile, Alden Richards’ character as Louie has already been described as someone who takes a bolder route.
“Louie is no longer a pushover. He’s really changed and for him, it’s like payback time. We’ll see an interesting character arc for him. And I thank the people behind the series for doing a great job. I would like to stick to what I said previously that this is so far my best TV project,” he says.
Directed by Dominic Zapata, The World Between Us also stars Jaclyn Jose, Kelley Day, and Sid Lucero. The season return features the special appearance of Ricky Davao. Watch it tonight on GMA-7.
