Once elected as the next president in 2022, Vice President Leni Robredo wants to allocate P216 billion for COVID-19 aid in her first 100 days.

“In our first 100 days, we will focus on addressing our most urgent problem — controlling the pandemic and mitigating its impact on our people’s lives,” she said.

“We will set aside P216 billion in the national budget for ‘ayuda’ distribution to protect families from hunger and provide them with their basic needs without being forced to go to work,” Robredo added.

The Vice President vowed to increase support for the health-care workers, to upgrade hospital capacity, make swab tests easily available to the public, ensure herd immunity through vaccination of all and beef up the capability of health units under the local governments so they could administer vaccination on their own.

“We will not stop at vaccines. We will start stockpiling different COVID-19 treatment medicines and deploy them to areas where there are shortages,” she said.

Robredo also promised to enroll every Filipino in the universal health-care system in her 100 days.

“All of these can be done only if we rebuild trust in our institutions—and that’s exactly what we are going to do. We will put our house in order and restore confidence in the Philippine government,” she said.  Rio N. Araja

Speaking before the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry forum, the Vice President slammed the Duterte administration’s Build Build Build infrastructure program, saying concerned government agencies posted low disbursement or underspending.

“The point is not about building more, but about building better, making sure that quality is assured, and that corruption is eliminated, and the infrastructure we build actually contributes toward making the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable better,” she said.

Should Robredo be elected, her administration would focus on doable and strategic projects that shall provide high impact for the people.
