Recognizing the contributions in the propagation and development of sports, the Philippine Sports Commission through Women in Sports is organizing the “Gintong Gawad 2021 Awards” for women, who distinguished themselves in grassroots sports.
The awards are divided into eight categories, to be given to women for their outstanding contributions as they served as catalysts in sports in their areas.
The categories are Babaeng Atleta, Modelo ng Kabataan; Babaeng Atleta Modelo ng Isport sa Kumunidad; Kaagapay ng Isport sa Kumunidad (sponsor/benefactor); Natatangi at Makabagong Produktong Pang-Isport; and Proyektong Isport pang Kababaihan.
PSC commissioner Celia Kiram, chairperson of Women in Sports, is inviting Provincial Government Units, Highly Urbanized Cities, Independent Component Cities and Component Cities to send their nominees, together with their credentials and accomplishments as outstanding sports leaders in their communities.
The monthlong search for women, who helped in grassroots sports ends on November 30.
“Gintong Gawad was crafted and envisioned ostensibly designed to give due recognition to women for their outstanding contributions to grassroots women in sports,” explained Kiram.
“Sports is a platform for fun, fitness, unity, peace, camaraderie, teamwork, and many positive values that are extremely needed in this challenging period of pandemic,” adde the lady commissioner.
A female nominee athlete should be 21 years old and below as of December 31, 2021. She must have never been an athlete of the national pool regardless of Class A, B, C, Grassroots and Developmental classification, and never received allowance from PSC as an elite athlete and with no derogatory records in school or community.
