Following the downtrend in COVID-19 cases, some movie theaters within and outside Metro Manila will resume operations on Nov. 10, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) said Friday, Nov. 5.
In a statement sent to Manila Standard Entertainment, MTRCB released a listing of Cinemas that will be operational. Sourced from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines, the list was updated as of Nov. 1 and from the Nood Tayo ng Sine Facebook page of the Film Development Council of the Philippines, updated as of Oct. 29.
Among the Metro Manila cinemas that will start operations are Bonifacio High Street, Venice, and Uptown in Taguig, Century City Mall, Glorietta 4, Powerplant, and Ayala Circuit in Makati, TriNoma, Gateway, Eastwood Mall, and Fairview Terraces in Quezon City, Newport in Pasay, and Ayala Mall Manila Bay in Parañaque.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) approved of the recommendation to de-escalate the National Capital Region to Alert level 2 from Alert level 3, in its resolution dated Nov. 4, taking effect today Nov. 5 until Nov. 21
“As more Cinemas and Movie theaters move to open their doors to the public, we encourage all moviegoers to strictly observe minimum public health standards while keeping in mind the MTRCB film ratings as guide when choosing age-appropriate film content,” the statement said.
“The MTRCB affirms its policy of respect and deterrence to government instrumentalities operating within the framework of their mandates as dictated by law. In the case of the resumption of Cinema operations, it shall be the IATF-MEID and the Local Government Units who shall determine implementing guidelines to uphold health and safety controls for the viewing public,” the statement ended.
