Partido Reporma standard-bearer and Senator Panfilo Lacson on Tuesday vowed to put an end to the proliferation of “ninja cops” who continue to taint the image of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Lacson, during an interview with DZRJ, said he and his running mate, Senate President Vicente Sotto III, will prioritize the issue should they win the 2022 elections.
“The approach of the government in pursuing its war on drugs was mostly focused on law enforcement, the reason why the scalawags have escalated,” he said.
Lacson underscored the need to recalibrate the strategy of the government’s anti-drug war by putting more weight on prevention and rehabilitation.
“We have to re-adjust our strategy. Our focus, just like what the Senate President (Sotto) has been saying all along, our focus should be more on prevention and rehabilitation. Our approach should be holistic,” said the former PNP chief.
Meanwhile, the Lacson-Sotto tandem has continued to gain ground in Mindanao as hundreds of local leaders from Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon vow to support their campaign.
The new allies from Cagayan de Oro City and Bukidnon aired their support through a mass oath taking rite at the Apple Tree Resort in Opol, Misamis Oriental with Partido Reporma president and re-electionist Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez last week.
A similar ceremony took place in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental where a total of 144 leaders and supporters swore their allegiance to Partido Reporma.
