The good news from Carl Balita

“I don’t believe that only bad news sells, and I refuse that my family name will be associated with ‘bad’,” says Carl Balita, a senatorial candidate under Aksyon Demokratiko along with former actor and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, who is running for President.   

Film producer and licensed educator Carl Balita is a Senatorial aspirant under Aksyon Demokratiko.

Carl Balita is a household name, especially among listeners of DzMM and viewers of Teleradyo, where he hosted the multi-awarded program Radyo Negosyo for two decades. He is also a multi-awarded host of the Catholic Mass Media Awards, KBP Golden Dove Awards, and UP Gandingan Awards. His business talk show has featured success stories of micro and small businesses, and has become witness to how they have grown as major brands.

Balita is a businessman himself. He is behind the ISO-certified review center, which had bridged the professional licensure of almost a million nurses, teachers, criminologists, doctors, among others.     

In show business, he has produced two films, Nars by Adolf Alix (2007) and Maestra by Lem Lorca (2017), both being his advocacy films for his professions. 

Balita is a nurse-midwife and a licensed teacher and holds doctoral degrees in Humanities and in Education. 

“I produced these films with my intention to improve the public appreciation of these professions, which most of the time are ignored,” says Balita.

The film Nars was a response to the leakage scandal in the nurses licensure examination in 2006. 

“I felt duty-bound to help nursing recover from that blunder to our history,” he narrates.  I invested in bring the best cast including Jennylyn Mercado, Jodi Sta Maria, Agot Isidro, Coco Martin, Jon Avila, Jay Manalo, Jacklyn Jose, Alan Paule, among others. 

Maestra featured the journey of an Aeta teacher (Angeli Bayani) and an impoverished young teacher (Anna Luna) to becoming professional teachers and meeting an iconic teacher (Gloria Sevilla).  It won various awards and nominations in  Gawad Urian, Star Awards for Movies, Sydney World Film Festival, and 5-Continent International Film Festival. 

Earlier he co-produced Magsimula Ka: The Musical (2010) featuring Poppert Bernadas, Ciara Sotto, Fred Lo, and DJ Mike Solomon.  He was also instrumental in the staging of the Original Pilipino Musical Dirty Old Musical (DOM) (2016) featuring Robert Sena, John Arcilla, Noni Buencamino, Michael William, Bo Cerudo, Ricky Davao, and KitKat.

Prior to the pandemic, and in response to the Taal Volcano eruption, he led the Tulong Taal Concert (2020) at Cuneta Astrodome with Vehnee Saturno and Isay Alvarez, an all-star cast to raise funds for Tall Volcano eruption victims. The concert was able to raise 2.4 million pesos which were distributed to the displaced families before and during the pandemic.  

The TULONG TAAL Music Video includes Ice Seguerra, Angeline Quinto, The Company, Jaya, Ebe Dancel, Frenchy Dy, Kakai, Isay Alvarez, Poppert Bernadas, Bayang, and Robert Sena.  The concert also featured El Gamma Punumbra, Jamie Rivera, Richard Reynoso, Renz Verano, Gerphil Flores, Carla La Forteza, Jenine Desiderio, Beverly Salviejo, Tricia Canilao, Alakim, among others.  

During the pandemic, Carl and Vehnee also produced the Bayani ng Mundo a viral Music Video featuring Kuh Ledesma, Jamie Rivera, Ivy Violan, Dulce, Kris Lawrence, Ladine Roxas, Bayang Barriois, Esang De Torres, and Vehnee Saturno. 

He has also launched the Awit ng Bayani, a global singing contest among health frontliners, which winner Moniq Rosales, a medical technologist, will be launched for her album Gunita under VSMC management.  

As a senatorial candidate, Carl Balita resonates his credentials with his 3K Agenda, namely Kalusugan, Kabuhayan at Karunungan.  

“These are the three areas of our pandemic crisis, and I am offering myself to address these with my experience, educational expertise and network,” ends Balita.
