In the virtual junket for The Clash Season 4, judge and comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas said that she’d be leaving the country once her commitment with the talent reality singing competition has ended. She will stay in America to focus on her US citizenship.
“I need to stay there for me to be able to petition my husband (Gerald Sibayan) in the future,” she said.
“In life, we have priorities and this is an important one for me although I will still come back to the Philippines to visit my mother who is already old,” she added.
For the 56-year-old actress, the move will give her time to concentrate on her married life, too.
“Now I want to devote time to my role as a wife. Gerald is my priority. Apart from petitioning him, he needs a companion there in the US. What’s the use of our marriage if I’m here and he’s there? One thing more, it’s only now that I’ll go full blast on my Green Card. It was granted to me way back in 2015. So if you’ll count, in 2020, I should’ve spent five years and became a US citizen already,” she explained.
“It’s only at this point when I decided to focus on it. The Lord gave me a chance to get hold of a Green Card then I’m just going to waste it? So now, I would like to do everything I can to comply with the requirements,” Ai Ai carried on.
The ace comedienne also pointed out that their stay in the US will give her and Gerald the opportunity to have a baby. If ever, they are open to surrogacy.
“It’s definitely part of the plan. I pray to God that everything will turn out well,” was her brief answer.
Ai Ai’s much needed break on TV means she would only come to the country if her current show comes back for another season.
“As of now, it’s only The Clash which can make me come back here from time to time. I love the show and I’m proud to be part of the panel of judges. The show always makes me feel excited,” she stated.
“Like in our latest season, there are really lots of excellent and good-looking contestants. You’ll just get surprised that when the finals come, they all look like French actresses. It’s just amazing,” ended Ai Ai.
