Party-List candidate Frontliners on Thursday honored Filipino national athletes for giving hope and inspiring the entire nation during the time of Covid-19 pandemic.

Frontliners' first nominee Jayke Joson said files his Party-List certificate of candidacy

Frontliners vowed to support the campaign of Filipino athletes in international tournaments because they are just like the hardworking doctors, nurses, police and soldiers, who are dedicated to serve the nation in any given time, place and situation.

“While our doctors and nurses are busy saving lives at the height of the pandemic, our athletes have lifted the spirit of the entire nation, especially during the Tokyo Olympics where we won our first gold medal,” Frontliners' first nominee Jayke Joson said.

“The Olympic gold medal victory of weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz last July, as well as the silver medals of boxers Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio, and the bronze medal of Eumir Felix Marcial have motivated around the country the millions of frontliners to work very hard and keep their faith in God.”

Joson, a former actor and film producer, is aiming for one of the 63 party-list seats in the coming May elections in order to give representation to all the hardworking frontliners around the country.

“Our national athletes are also frontliners, who fight for the pride of our nation at these trying times. Just like our beloved healthcare workers and peacekeeping forces, we have to support the campaign of our athletes to keep a strong nation at this time,” Joson added.

Frontliners for the past two years have established themselves as a great public necessity, risking their own lives for the sake of others. And the time has come for them to be heard and represented in congress, Joson said.

The Frontliners Party-List formally filed its candidacy Thursday morning at the Commission on Election satellite office at the Sofitel tent.
