Aware of the damage wrought by COVID-19 pandemic on livelihood locally and globally, showbiz celebrities came out in support of the local backyard piggery farmers by encouraging Filipinos to buy pork from local hog-raisers.
One example of solid support to this campaign is that of lifestyle show host Chemist Pinky Tobiano.
In several seasons of her online public service program Grateful Tuesdays, Chemist Pinky met ordinary citizens gravely affected by the pandemic. Some of them were farmers-backyard pig raisers whose income plummeted due to African Swine Flu and the skyrocketing price of pork and pork products.
This situation prompted Chemist Pinky to push the “Support Pinoy Pork” campaign with fellow advocates, like Chester Warren Tan (National Federation of Hog Farmers) and Nonon Tambago (Pork Producers Federation of the Philippines). They were later joined by celebrities Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby, Erik Santos, Dr. Vicki Belo, Moie Bien, and others.
“We are encouraging our countrymen when they go to the market, to please buy Pinoy pork. Yummier, tastier, safer,” said Tobiano also underscoring that such campaign can be a big help in encouraging Filipinos to buy pork, in effect helping others involved in the business.
She is grateful to the celebrities involved for their sincere help in promoting local products-especially agricultural products, including Pinoy pork.
“They believe God loves a cheerful giver that’s why they really want to help especially during this pandemic,” Chemist Pinky Tobiano added.
Next week, Chemist Pinky, joined by Erik Santos, will cook Pinoy pork adobo, which they’ll give out to over 100 jeepney drivers from Quezon City, who lost their boundary income due to the pandemic.
“Let’s be onewith them supporting local pork. Support Pinoy pork,” Chemist Pinky Tobiano concluded.
