Despite his resignation as the Philippine International Trading Corp. president and chief executive officer, Dave Almarinez is not yet off the hook for alleged role in swindling, malversation of public funds and other acts of corruption.
Lawyer Lorenzo “Larry” Gadon, in a statement, said “this (resignation) does not absolve him from criminal liability over several charges of graft and corruption stated in my complaint in the Ombudsman on June 7.”
“It must be noted that the acts committed were already consummated and thus his resignation does not absolve him from criminal liability, he added.
Gadon filed the charges against Almarinez before the Office of the Ombudsman, citing a Commission on Audit report of May 2, 2019 showing that the PITC entered into several memorandum of agreements with at least 17 government agencies for the procurement of goods and services, including infrastructure projects.
“I will pursue the case despite his removal from post which I learned from reliable sources was a forced resignation,” he said.
