Police seized more than P170,000 worth of shabu, a hand grenade and a gun from a 27-year-old man who they initially accosted for not wearing a face mask in Taguig City.

Southern Police District director B/Gen. Jimili Macaraeg said the suspect Jamoran Cayagcag is now detained at the Taguig City Police Station custodial facility and will be charged with violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act; illegal possession of a firearm, explosives and ammunition — and for violating health protocols.

Macaraeg said members of the Police Sub-Station 9 led by Maj. Crisanto Agualin were conducting their routine patrol around 5 p.m. Wednesday when they saw Cayagcag along Roldan Street in Barangay New Lower Bicutan not wearing a face mask.

The police officers alighted from their mobile cars and approached Cayagcag.

“The suspect was reminded by our operatives on the mandatory wearing of face masks in relation to COVID-19 pandemic but instead of heeding the advice, the suspect tried to escape prompting our officers to chase him,” Macaraeg said.

When the lawmen searched the suspect’s belongings, they found 25 grams of shabu, a hand grenade, a .38 cal. revolver and four live ammunition.

Macaraeg commended the Taguig City police for the arrest.
