The camp of Senator Manny Pacquiao yesterday appealed to the Cusi-led faction in the PDP-Laban to stop attacking the senator who has a boxing bout in the United States on Aug. 22 (Manila time).
Ron Munsayac, executive director of the Pacquiao-wing, expressed hope that Filipinos will unite in supporting the boxing icon in his world championship fight.
“I hope our expelled members – Cusi and [Melvin] Matibag – should stop hurling issues on the senator and politicking in the midst of this pandemic,” Munsayac said.
Cusi was chosen as party president by the PDP-Laban faction recognized by President Rodrigo Duterte as its party chairman, while Matibag was elected secretary-general.
“It is just sad that many government officials of this administration have been engaged in politics despite the increasing number of COVID-19 cases,” Munsayac said.
