The Bureau of Customs on Saturday disclosed the recent apprehension of various counterfeit items worth P7 billion in Pasay City.
In a statement, BOC said the fake items bearing luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Burberry, among others, were discovered after conducting an inspection at the Baclaran Bagong Milenyo Plaza.
The team composed of Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD)—Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) under the Intelligence Group (IG) and Port of Manila District Office conducted the inspection through a letter of authority and mission order issued by Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero.
The BOC estimated the seized goods to have a value amounting to P7.42 billion.
The imported counterfeit items were seized for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
