PSC’s “Rise Up, Shape Up” will feature the Luzon entries of the Zumbarangay Pilipinas challenge in its next two webisodes.

Exceptional entries move up to the city/town level. A panel of judges will select qualifying entries based on forms and style, movement, vigor and energy, and Philippine cultural and artistic value.

The Philippine Sports Commission officially launched its first-ever official dance exercise music entitled “Igalaw-galaw ating Katawan” last April 2021, alongside the inauguration of the Zumbarangay Pilipinas: Solo Exercise On-Cam Challenge. The upbeat track of the dance exercise music is an invitation to the public to move, dance, and exercise towards good health.

The episode will also touch on the history of Philippine participation in the Olympics Games in the regular segment “K-Isport: Kwentong Isport” hosted by Women in Sports Commissioner in-charge Celia Kiram. “It is very timely and important to discuss how far the Philippines has gone in terms of our women’s participation in the Olympics Games,” Kiram shares.

“We have two female athletes—Hidilyn Diaz and Nesthy Petecio—making history in the Olympics and we are with the nation in congratulating them. We are very proud of their success.”

Kiram added that Diaz’s and Petecio’s medal finish in the Olympics should all the more inspire women and girls to break gender stereotypes and take up sports.

Kiram hopes that the Zumbarangay Pilipinas challenge can be the torch for Filipinas to be comfortable about showing their strength, their ability to move and hold presence, and eventually to try out sports too.
