Parañaque City will impose a liquor ban and suspend the sale of liquor and other alcoholic beverages for the next three weeks as Metro Manila reverts to enhanced community quarantine, the strictest form of lockdown amid the lingering threat of coronavirus’ Delta straint.
City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the Parañaque government from August 2 to Aug. 22, 2021 will enforce the liquor bar and establishements are covered by the prohibition.
Metro Manila is under general community quarantine “subject to heightened and additional restrictions” from July 31 to August 5, 2021.
This will be followed by the strictest enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) which will be in place from August 6.
The current GCQ with heightened and additional restrictions already bans indoor and al fresco dining while the ECQ will only allow essential trips and services.
The decision to reimpose ECQ was announced by President Duterte on the recommendation of the inter-agency task force against the COVID-19, noting that a possible upsurge in virus infections could occur if the restrictions were not enforced.
